Nice Kicks

Hi everyone!

So recently I got asked a question about "affordable footwear". Now I must admit, this is surprisingly difficult to come by. As a student, I don't really have the option of purchasing 300 dollar boots. For all of you boot/bootie lovers out there, I put together a quick list of six affordable boots and booties that you can rock for a decent price.

Back to the Basics

Hi everyone!

Hope your New Year is off to a fantastic start! I was recently looking through my closet when I realized that I have several items that I put on heavy rotation. These pieces add the perfect finishing touch to any of my outfits, and I must say that I will wear these pieces multiple times a week.

I have a love for leather jackets. Leather is a really great way to spice up an ordinary outfit of t-shirt and jeans. They're so versatile--perfect for pairing with dresses or pants.

I must confess, I'm a striped shirt addict. I have quite a few in my closet, and needless to say, I adore them! They have a preppy edge and provide the perfect base for layering shirts, blazers, jackets, and jewelry.

Recently, I've been mixing in quite a few turtlenecks into my wardrobe. They are super warm and classy--definitely a worthy investment for your wardrobe.

Flats are a go-to choice for me, as I am a student. When I saw these Charlotte Olympia flats, I was so excited! However, the rather large price tag on them rather disappointed me. Luckily I was able to find a budget friendly version on Shoedazzle. Seychelles has a similar style which I also love, see it here

A black skater skirt is an obvious staple. The styling options are endless with this piece. I think it does a fantastic job speaking for itself.

Lastly, I love Hunter boots. They are perfect for cold, rainy days and are unbelievably chic! I have worn these with both pants and skirts.

Sweater Weather

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! The passing of New Years marks the end to winter fashion, and I'm already seeing "spring" lookbooks popping up in a lot of my favorite stores. I know I've talked about this before (for those who know me, you'll know that I absolutely ADORE Fall/Winter fashion), but there is something so put-together about boots, sweaters, trench coats...I could go on and on.

But one of the perks of being where I live is that I am able to wear my winter clothes for quite some time (even during the spring). However, I must admit that my summer wardrobe is rather lackluster.

My lovely friend from Seattle came for a visit and so kindly offered to take pictures of my outfit. I've always seen myself as a not-so-photogenic person, but I am pleasantly surprised with the results! In this outfit, I am wearing a super cozy Vince turtleneck sweater , Hudson jeans, and studded oxfords (old). On my hand I have a Fossil Watch (similar), J. Crew bracelets (old), and a David Yurman bangle (borrowed from my mother).

Hopefully I'll be able to take more photos of my outfits in posts to come. Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Fash Friday: My Faves

Hi everyone!

So unfortunately, the holiday season is soon to come to an end, which means that we must also wave a goodbye to winter fashion. This perhaps one of the most difficult things about style for me, bidding adieu to my boots and sweaters. I feel so "Portland" saying this, but there is something about scarves and cozy that makes them inherently more chic than sandals and shorts. So without further ado, here are some of my favorite winter styles:

Plaid Scarves

Capes

Chic Vests

Dress + Rain-boots

Stripe Shirts (love that hat, too)

Trend Talk: Fur

Hello everyone!

As you have probably noticed, fur is making a fashionable entrance into the style world. Not only does it keep you incredibly warm, but it is chic as well. I love the retro-glam look of fur. It immediately makes your outfit "pop". Here are two ways you can wear fur:

Winter Layering

Hello Everybody!

First of all, I would like to apologize for not writing on my blog for a while. Clearly it is difficult for me to post every single day, so I might have to change the frequency of blog posts that I write.

Portland is getting colder by the minute (we had a crazy cold week), and it's about time that we talk "chic winter fashion". Initially, I was under the impression that being warm and staying chic were two things that would not coincide. But over the past week, I discovered that there are plenty of ways to keep yourself from being chilly while still looking chic! The easiest way to do this is to layer several pieces together. Last week, temperatures were below freezing, and instead of opting for a fuzzy-but-not-so-glamorous sweater and yoga pants, I decided to wear a Striped T-Shirt (similar), J Crew Excursion Vest, Old Navy Trench Coat (similar, love this), a Scarf (similar), Hudson Jeans, and Hunter Rain boots. I was pleasantly surprised to see how warm I was! So yes ladies, layering does really work.

A Late Music Monday

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break full of food, rest, and relaxation. I apologize for not posting over break...I was in Seattle attending a seminar.

So I suppose I'll get started off with Music Mondays. The song is called "How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep" by the Bombay Bicycle Club. Hope you like it!
